The Talmudic Philosophy Fellowship offers an opportunity to engage with rabbinic literature through conceptual and philosophical analysis. The fellowship focuses on the study of Talmudic passages and other rabbinic texts that reflect broader ideas about law, ethics, human nature, and religious life.
The Research Fellow’s primary role is to assist Rabbi Rafael Jonathan Polisuk in research, editing, and writing projects related to Talmudic philosophy and the intellectual world of Hazal. These projects include the development of essays, articles, and book-length works exploring the conceptual foundations of rabbinic thought.
Tasks may include locating relevant passages in rabbinic literature, organizing and analyzing sources, assisting with editing drafts, and helping structure written material for publication. Weekly meetings will be devoted to reviewing research findings and discussing the development of ongoing writing projects.
The fellowship provides hands-on experience in the process of producing scholarly Torah writing, from source collection and conceptual analysis to editing and preparing texts for publication.
The Rabbinic Literature Research Fellow is a full-time participant of the Beit Midrash Program who has committed to a full year of study at Pardes.
Supplemental fellowship applications will only be considered once a full Beit Midrash Program application has been received.
